Hey folks, so, I've decided to do 28mm Napoleonic and 18th century miniatures, however i cannot find a good manufacturer to stick with for 18th Century, mainly SYW.

I've seen Front Rank, but they only have a few countries.
Does anyone know of any good manufacturers that have plenty of miniatures/nations to choose from?

Also; would like to hear some opinions on painting 1700s Polish as other miniatueres, such as painting Russians or something in Polish uniforms, would that look too ridiculous?

Thanks in advance.

^ Also War of Spanish Succession has really caught my eye

For the SYW and WAS I heartily recommend Minen and Crann Tara. Minden covers the SYW. They have all the Prussian, Austrians, British, French, Hanoverians, and Hessians you need, and soon will have Russians. Crann Tara makes WAS French, British, Savoy, Spanish, Highlander's and plan to do Saxons.

While the ranges are owned by two different people, they are perfectly compatible since the same sculptor does most of both ranges.

I did WSS with Front Rank. Really beautiful figures. I did it before the Ebor range came out. They don't really go together. If I had it to do again, I'm not sure which range I'd choose.

For SYW several of us in our group have collections. Most of them are Crusader and Foundry. They are terrific and that's what I'd do if starting again.

I second the recommendation of db1676. Minden and Crann Tara are superb figures, really nice and cover the periods very well.

Ebor for WSS. Beauties to paint.

I would recommend Ebor for WSS, as well. They a quite well-priced, especially if you get the battalion and multi-battalion deals. Warfare Miniatures has great cavalry figures that would work for the WSS.

Er, what other nations are you after for the SYW period? There aren't many that cover more than Front Rank in 28mm….

Remember that smaller nations tended to ape the uniforms of larger / more powerful nations.

Also, unless you are changing to the WAS, then Front Rank cover almost all the combatants. If you do then it is slightly different uniforms.

That said, I have some Crann Tara Savoyards (very nice), Minden Hanoverians (very nice too), Eureka Saxons and Dutch (both my favourite ranges for the period – shame Eureka doesn't do everyone in the period) and some Front Rank Austrians.

When I come to buy another army, unless Eureka have increased their range (unlikely) I will go for Crann Tara/Minden.

Another vote for minden/crann tara
And another vote for ebor for WSS, you can also supliment WSS with warfare, their cavalry covers most of what you'd need for wss. Both ebor and warfare has lots of new great northern war figures too.
