Anyone ever do this? I'm particularly interested in doing something on a relatively small level – skirmish or a bit bigger – for the 1967 or 1973 wars.

Anyone have any recommendations here?

Six Day War. Either early or late.

Sinai early on, you have the Israeli's (little more than a squad or two at a spot) occupying a line of strongpoints that are anything but with Egyptians advancing, or later you have Ariel Sharon pushing to the canal despite orders to hold back by higher HQ.

Golan early on the Syrians take the mountain observation post of the Israeli intelligence, and later Israeli commandos fight their way up to recapture.

What level skirmish? Infantry or tank/mech?

Tank for tank, the Israelis outmatched the Arabs at every turn, but realize that the Israeli's took SERIOUSLY losses early in any engagement by the surprising effectiveness of the Arab anti-tank weapons and tactics. Saggers all over the place, and at low levels of kit issue.

I was thinking of something relatively small to start with – perhaps on the lines of a couple of squads of infantry supported by a tank.

I think I agree that the Six-Day War would work, but perhaps if I stick with this I could build out into 1973.

Maybe if I narrow it down to something specific I could do the battle of Abu Agelia, maybe the trench fights around Um-Katef?

But – well, I don't see a lot of models or figures available here, and I don't know specific details about uniforms or equipment to know what is accurate…?

WOW – I was off big time, I meant Yom Kippur War ('73) for all that stuff above, not the Six Day War. What an error!!

Couple of squads supported by a halftrack would be just as appropriate as with a tank.

Stragglers that survived an engagement and subsequently trying to locate and attach to larger units were a common thing, so the logic is there for a "lost unit" skirmish.

As far as figures, you will be hard pressed to find them in 28mm or 25mm. Most I can find are conversions with added green stuff. They are available in 20mm (1/72) in metal or plastic if you are willing to go that direction.
