ELite Cold War Warriors, My son is working on a research project involving US Army deployments in overseas contingencies. One of the sticking points is the US Army in Europe in the 1950s and 1960s. Absent going to the archives for the rest of his career, are their any go-to sources that describe the organization and units of the US Army in Europe during this time period? If there isn't a/some good source, can any of you state which units you were in that were assigned to Europe during this period? For example, "I served in the 443rd Mess Kit Repair Battalion in Germany from 1952-1953." He may be able to get sufficient numbers/units to get a cross fix on the rest of the organization if he has something to start with. Thanks for your service and support! |

There's a USAREUR website that has lots of great info, pics, maps, etc.. Certainly, a great place to start for personal anecdotes, official history, etc., etc.. |

For the big picture (divisions/brigades), take a look at "Maneuver and Firepower: The Evolution of Divisions and Separate Brigades" at link Ed |
