I've thought about stepping out from the analogue world and starting a blog or vlog or podcast or other-technology based thing-y.

However, I'd like to get a rough-ish idea of what is normal. So many views/unique visitors/downloads do you typically get for each post/podcast/etc?

Typically 60-100 with about 2/3rds from here

I would say ditto for the above roughly. I find some of the Battle Reports sometimes get a few more views.

All time high over the last 5 years is just over 2000 pageviews per post with 1000 pageviews being a good average for an interesting post.

Some posts get very little attention.

A recent post took about 80 hits in a few days but I expect that will wither away to almost nothing soon.

You have to remember that there is no such thing as 'normal'.

Historically my Blog would get about 8,000 to 10.000 hits or views per month but in the last two years this has jumped to 15,000 to 20,000 with an all time high of 48,000. However I am never sure this is correct as Blog counters are notoriously fickle.

A better measure, in my opinion is the number of comments and these have been declining.

I still think Bologging suits my character and therefore I would expect to continue.

Depends on the genre for 'Sparker's Wargaming Blog' – I like to make it clear in my post titles what period and ruleset my batrep or article covers. Consequently I can get 100-200 per day for a Team Yankee or FOW related post, 70-80 for Black Powder, and a mere 20 odd for something less mainstream, Blucher or Maurice related.

Though I am Australian, most view come from the US, followed by the UK!

When I was posting regularly it was averaging about 30000 a month. In a wargaming/blogging funk at the moment and have not done a post in over a month and no hobby posts this year pretty much.

As everyone says really. It depends. The first thing you need to ask is "Are pageviews so important?" On my general gaming blog, I get about 1-4 comments on average and anywhere from 50-200 pageviews. Sometimes some entries like my Gen Con and Little Wars reviews will generate way more pageviews, but for me it's not about the clicker, it's about what I am writing and sharing.

About 5-6,000 pageviews a month but depends on how often I post and what. It's quite a niche blog with just 38 followers.

I average 400 hits per day, with some blog entries attracting more and some less.

Writing regular blog entries keeps up readers' interest, so blogging once each week will keep people visiting.

I´m curious, is there anyway for you all to know how many people follow your blogs through some sort of reader? I follow several of the blogs here using feedly.

PatrickWR30 May 2017 1:45 p.m. PST

Readership on these sort of niche blogs is extremely low, unless you go all out on marketing yourself as a brand. Really it's a labor of love. If you like the idea of writing and sharing content about your hobby then go for it. You'll find readers, or rather they'll find you.
