I know the US Army & USMC used pump shot guns/trench rifles in WW 1. Did any other countries arm their troops with shot gun/trench rifles?

Wargames foundry makes a figure for the great war with a shotgun. They must've based this on some historical precedents? It is an officer so may be limited to some degree.

Germany came out with flame throwers and poison gas and tried to say that those who used shot guns were war criminals and the user would be punished for war crimes. Oh well.

Some of the British officers might have taken a shotgun with them, but most of those would have been fancy double-barrel guns, not high-capacity pumps.
