"The 27th regiment was sent to Afghanistan in 1981 to fight. Harsh conditions welcomed them in May 1981. The 27th regiment was the second Soviet fighter regiment in Afghanistan. They even had to invent martial procedures and organizing methods. The regiment's first and second squadron moved to Afghanistan with MiG-21bis Fishbed-L and MiG-21UM Mongol-B fighters. The two-seat MiG 21UM Mongol-B version was also used for bombardment too…"
