Are you sure about the cross on every shapska? I know they were present for the voltigeurs but for the fusiliers??? |

Agreed – great work! My sole not very good reference in the area suggests that the fusiliers had a cross on their czapkas as well |

I have never seen a true czapka without a thin cord/lace cross over the top, I must say. How interesting that they all have the upmarket Imperial Guard style back pack. High quality and no reason to doubt it……. |

Thanks all! Auxiliapal you might be thinking of the Polish Vistula legion where the fusiliers wore shakos without the crosses: link |

Oh yeah………yeah I always confuse the Vistula Legion with Duchy of Warsaw…… Not sure I ever even thought of that before, mainly as, (however brilliant the rig of both) neither were there at TOTB (The One True Battle) |

Polish lancers were there… |

Yet another lot (one squadron) of Poles that fit neither category above…true. Confusing place back then…. Like Belgium, you just happened to be in the wrong place throughout history and suffer for it. |
