I was wondering if the Canadian Army had any Guards Regt. in the Great War? Also, were the Mounted Infantry ever mounted?

No Canadian Guards regiments in the Great War, just numbered infantry battalions. (if you want to split hairs, there were units like the 87th Battalion (Canadian Grenadier Guards) but operationally these were no different from other infantry battalions).

Several regiments of Canadian Mounted Rifles were recruited, based on lessons learned in the South African War, however by the time they reached France, none actually served in the front line with their horses. There was a Canadian Cavalry Brigade that was kept mounted throughout the war (mostly – they also were rotated through the trenches on occasion).

The 87th Battalion Canadian Grenadier Guards is the one I modelled my Vimy Ridge game after. Their attack on hill 145 was very bloody, with 11 out of 12 officers killed and half the battalion casualties.
