Imagine that you are planning to run a Hellenistic campaign for you and your friends. Which ruleset would you use for the battles? |

We've been running an Ancient campaign here at our club since before 2014 using Sabin's map and rules (from SOA) and fighting the battles using Basic Impetus. The rules were originally free and a new edition is available for download for about £3.00 GBP We are still using the originals – with a few updates. We are now at Turn 12 with the Romans contemplating invading North Africa and the Paryhians having ousted the Seleucids from Syrian and conquered Egypt. Hannibal arrives soon. The point to point movement of the map means there are no complex strategic movement screw-ups and the elegance of the Impetus ruleset means the battles are argument free. Have a look at the reports of the campaign here: link |

To the strongest, in my opinion. For campaigns is perfect as the games are fast and decisive. |

I'm always quite partial to DBA for campaigns, since the game only takes about an hour, so you can play three or more games in a session. It's been my experience that campaigns involving multiple players often dies a slow death as it can be difficult to get everyone together regularly. So whenever everyone can get together, playing DBA enables the campaign to move rapidly along! |

We use Triumph and the campaign rules to play out campaigns at conventions. |

DBA. I would probably double the number of pike elements each army gets. |

We've been really enjoying L'Art de la Guerre. It is somewhere between DBA and DBM in complexity and and army size. Armies are usually about 18 to 26 "units." Units are a single base of mounted troops and skirmishers and two DBA bases of other infantry. |
