So, there aren't many good options I've found for Hobgoblins in the Gygax style out there. There's Otherworld, but I don't like their faces, so I've decided to go into the tried and true paint a historical miniature orange direction. I'm leaning toward Old Glory Carthaginians, as they have a good mix of exposed skin and, leather and metal armor, and a regimented appearance, but I'm interested in hearing from the rest of the community here. Has anybody else done something similar? |

What about Mongols? I think they would work best and you can get them in plastic. link |

Well, I am planning on using Mongols and Samurai for a different project. Put them in the solid "maybe" camp. |

Are you looking for 25mm or 15mm? You don't say,but you posted to both boards. Meanwhile, here are the OG 15s Samurai: link At least your question led me to discover they've put up pics! |

I'm looking specifically for 25s, but I cross posted to see if people in the other half of the community have done similar things (I think I read something about it somewhere). |

In that case, maybe have a look at the OG Han Chinese, along with Mongols and Samurai. I have also wondered about using Curteys Asians as orcs, based solely on pics I've seen. |

I think I'll be picking up one set form each of these and seeing how they turn out. |

Sorry, missed this thread until now. I posted on tbis topic before, here. I used plastic humans, with orange faces, and blue noses. They work for me. Per Gygax's 1977 Monster Manual description, they are difficult to see as Hobgoblins, from a distance, often being mistaken for being Humans. I like using 'Human' figures for Hobgoblins, as it fits his description. Cheers! |

You might want to check out the hobgoblins from Alternative Armies, they look quite human-ish: link link link |

The hobgoblins in 15mm by splintered light are as exact a match for the samurai style as you might possibly find.
