Hi, gents! I'm looking for the British and Dutch units that was brigaded with British 36th Inf. Regiment in The Battle for Murcia, in The WSS, in 1706, 4th september. The battle is known in Spain as Batalla del Huerto de las Bombas. It was a minor encounter, 5000 men per side. |

I've just looked at Nick Dorrell's book 'Marlborough's Other Army' to see if this answers your question. He confirms (p.84) that a small force was despatched to Murcia in June / July 1706 (Thomas Alnutt's Regiment of Foot, which eventually became the 36th, together with a detachment from Robert Killigrew's Dragoons). I can't find any further mention of this. There is also mention of a separate force under Richard Gorges which moved into Alicante (Gorges', Allen's, Mountjoy's & Mohuns Foot Regiments), supported by a Spanish Horse Regiment. Not sure this fully answers your question but at least it gives you a idea of the Regiments in the area at that time. Phil
