From the workshops of Bashytubits hard working Smurfs comes the P1000 Ratte.

For inquiring minds a 1/100 scale model is 390cm long.

Wow. Cool. I bet that will take a long bit to print… :)

stephen m11 May 2017 4:49 p.m. PST

How about 1/285 or 1/300?

Until this post, I had no idea the Germans had designed the first Ogre, way back in the 1940s….

The more I read, the more this thing sounds like the outlandish invention of a comic book villain:

The tank was to be provided with a vehicle bay that could hold two BMW R12 motorcycles for scouting, and several smaller storage rooms, a compact infirmary area, and a self-contained lavatory system.

At least you have the diagnosis correct!

;-)

That is freaking huge.

Heck, at that size, how about a Traveller Scout/Courier spacecraft print in 15mm, if you can make the hull smooth enough, and/or make the panel lines deep and wide enough not to be filled in by heavy primer use, when spraying heavily to remove the striations?

Perhaps separate landing gear prints, so they can be used as masters, to have them cast in metal.

16" – 18" long, is about the right scale for it, and I imagine there are probably some decent 3D models already available on-line.

Probably might be rather expensive to print though too.

I like both of these, but the pointy one best:

As a backup plan, would love to see a 1/300th scale (6mm) print of each.

I'd also love to see the Beowulf-class, Free Trader, Gazelle-class Close Escort, and Dragon-class System Defense Boat created in 1/300th scale.

I must correct my initial post. It is 390mm long in 1/100 so 39cm.

Forged in Battle make (made?) one in 1/100

I'll bet replacing a track on that, or heck, even fueling it by hand would be a b-tch.

That's all handled by the engineering crew with tools in the on-board machine shop. No problem….

Over 8 1/2" long in 28mm… how much for one?

Dagwood12 May 2017 2:40 a.m. PST

A bit bigger than 8.5", I think, even in 1/100th its 16". In 28mm, what, 30" plus ? It won't leave much room on my table for anything else !

Or are you referring to the spacecraft ?

I failed at doing the math in my head o.0

I have 2 (one built) in 1/144, huge. Basically a Battleship turret on tracks

Nice.

Are you a 3D Printer pioneer or is it something that you heard about and embraced?

boy wundyr x12 May 2017 3:18 p.m. PST

I'd love one for 6mm too, though I do realize the scenario would be "fight over the remains of the bombed out Ratte stuck 10 feet away from the ruins of the only bridge in France that could carry its weight."
