Apart from the Team Yankee range, who makes good 15mm DDR infantry ? At 15mm, are Soviet GSFG figures close enough ? |
Mako11 | 11 May 2017 1:40 a.m. PST |
Irregular's Soviets look more like East Germans to me, due to the shape of their helmets. |

Armies Army have some nice DDR infantry and vehicles to boot. There are a couple of oddball things to the infantry (the NVA didn't use an underslung grenade launcher, for instance, and the Sturmgepäck was always always left in the BTR/BMP) but they give you one extra infantryman per pack so it is easy to work around! |

The DDR helmet is very distinctive and nothing like the Soviet one, so you can't really substitute 1 for the other. |

Hi I do indeed have them and a few other options. The UGL I was informed was used however (simple snip and its gone). As for the Sturmgepäck only a few troops have them for variety. armiesarmy.com |

How well do Irregular and AA figures scale with Peter Pig ? |
Armiesarmy | 11 May 2017 5:15 a.m. PST |
AA little larger They are in winter uniforms No idea on irregular sorry Keith |

Thanks for the quick reply. I like to get a mix of figures that look OK together. |

Here's a pic of the Irregular "Soviets", which look more like East Germans to me, due to the shape of their helmets:

Well, the guy is holding the RPG wrong, but who cares, right. |

You could fix the RPG with an engineer's hammer. |

Sculpting irregularities aside, the uniform cut is all wrong too. Does QRF not have any East Germans? But if I was buying some, I'd go for the ArmiesArmy DDR. |
GeoffQRF | 13 May 2017 7:05 a.m. PST |
No we haven't got East Germans yet. I did sculpt a few helmets. Well, we have all the vehicles. :-) Canadians, Dutch and Belgians done. Just trying to decide where to do next. |
Khusrau | 14 May 2017 5:30 p.m. PST |
I need Danes, but I expect I can substitute using W. Germans. |
Armiesarmy | 15 May 2017 2:48 a.m. PST |
My NVA are now launched :)
available at armiesarmy.com cheers p.s more bits to follow in the next few weeks |
Khusrau | 15 May 2017 9:02 a.m. PST |
Nice NVA – very cool… for me, I am just trying to work out whether to equip the Danes with Leopards or Centurions. They had both in 1985. |
Armiesarmy | 15 May 2017 10:05 a.m. PST |
Centurions are kinda neat!!! |
Mako11 | 15 May 2017 1:24 p.m. PST |
The OBVIOUS answer is BOTH, of course……. ;-) |
Guthroth | 15 May 2017 2:53 p.m. PST |
GeoffQRF, the answer is East Germans in Summer uniforms obviously ! ArmiesArmy, They are neat, but I don't really want Winter kit Khusrau, I would say Centurions without hesitation ! |
GeoffQRF | 16 May 2017 4:36 a.m. PST |
The answer is East Germans in Summer uniforms Always a possibility. We may be aiming a little further south ;-) For Danes… link Leopards, you'll want the 1DK (1A3) or the 1A5-DK (which is not the same as the German 1A5!) link Or Centurion V… or the M41! I'm going to add a pack with the FN FNC to both the Canadian and German ranges, so you should be able to mix and match enough infantry packs there to cover Danes… |
Guthroth | 16 May 2017 12:46 p.m. PST |
Turks then Geoff ? Turks would be cool ….. |
GeoffQRF | 21 May 2017 11:25 a.m. PST |
NATO Cold War Turks? Probably use the West German or new Canadian infantry, when I add a pack with AK, or using G3 and FN MAG. For vehicles, Leopard 1, M60, ACV15 (AIFV), BTR-80…. we can do all that God you already |
