"The world's largest coast guard vessel, the 12,000-ton China Coast Guard (CCG) cutter 3901, has successfully completed its first patrol in the South China Sea this month, according to Chinese government reports. The South China Sea division of China's State Oceanic Administration (SOA) reports that the ship, with a crew of 17 law enforcement personnel and two unnamed aerial vehicles (UAVs), has spent 19 days patrolling the waters around 12 Chinese-held islands and visiting 15 of the islands to "protect China's maritime rights." If this is a Coast Guard ship then the Nimitz class carriers are luxury liners. |

12,000 tons? That's larger than a Ticonderoga-class cruiser! |

funny…doesnt look big enough for a figure of 12000 tons. Might I suggest the actual figure is closer to 8000, unless that hull is solid iron? |

"This is Coast Guard cutter 3901 – we have cited the vessel in distress. It may be sinking." "Can you make sure it is actually sinking?" <WHOOSH> is heard over the radio. <BOOM> "Yes, it is now sinking for sure." |

The end of the article alludes to the "game" of ramming ships. They play at this with ships and aircraft. This would be a big, heavy ram that would win most fights. If the weight is disproportionate to the size, maybe that is by design. |

Awful small crew for a 12kton vessel… Hell, that's barely enough to handle 3 shifts round the clock with 4 guys on shift! I mean, you need one lookout by international law, plus there's probably one radar operator and the Officer of the Deck, and one guy down in the engine room. |
