Hi, gentlemen:

Iīve recently purchased the ruleset Swordpoint, but I hardly found some battlereports or reviews in this site (and in the Web)

I think the rules are magnificents; our gaming group are moving from WAB to Swoprdpoint: same basic mechanics, but less dice rolls and reduced random in the result. I like the Line of Battle rule!

Thank for reading!

WAB of course was based on the Warhammer system which constrained what Martin could do with it. And a great job he did with WAB2. Here he has a free hand to do what he likes.

Thank you, VVV. I knew the link and two or three other reports, but it seems strange (to me) that we canīt find more battlereports, here, or in youtube, with these rules.

The locals got a few copies, ran a couple games, but came up a solid "meh" and are on to trying something else. Hail Caesar and DBA are still popular with the lads.

I play Swordpoint and enjoy it very much. You are right that there isn't currently a lot of online 'hype,' but you can find battle reports and discussion at the Swordpoint forum on the Gripping Beast web site. There is also a fan-based Facebook page that is quite active.

I had a go on the playtest table at Salute and was reasonably impressed by it; however it seemed to offer a very similar playing experience to Hail Caesar and being very satisfied with that I'm not sure I'd have a compelling reason to change horses, as it were.

Then again, a single demo game isn't conclusive, and there may well be something in there I'm unaware of.

Theophanes – I hope you and your group are still enjoying Swordpoint. There is a very good battle report and review at this player blog site:

Only played it 2 or 3 times but so far it looks very good. I might have missed some of the finer points but it looks as if I finally found a ( mass army) rule set that feels right.

I honestly have never heard of it.

Having said that, I'm pretty set in the rules I like so don't really see the need to change to something else.

I have WAB, Impetus,, Lion Rampant, and Dux Bellorum and those work well for all my ancients gaming needs.

I am really enjoying playing Swordpoint. I feel it has some very interesting nuances and unique mechanics that make game play very interesting. The Momentum mechanic adds a nice bit of Fog of War and it can swing the outcome of a battle.
