Hi guys, can you give me some ideas on where to find nice terrain for my bolt action DAK army? Looking for N. Africa type stuff…want enough for a decent bolt action game…suggestions welcome!

Are you fighting in the open desert or in Tobruk? Most of the action in 41-42 have very little in the way of terrain aside from the occasional Wadi and low hill.

Some wrecked vehicles from an earlier battle, with sand starting to dune up on them would provide cover and atmosphere.

its The northwest frontier colonial but he has a way of making cool rocks with tree bark and also wadis.

There was a Kickstarter about a month back, where the artist was selling plans to 3D print flats, to make Arabic buildings:

Not sure how you contact the artist now that the KS is over, but I'll bet he could sell more.

Our new high-tech library offers a 3D printer for us taxpayers. I've moved in.

north Africa…built the German army list Rommel's defeat…I want rough style terrain…not just sand.

Foam core can make some convincing North African buildings. Also check out these:

Or these:

For dunes, hills, etc. I carved my own out of pink foam and painted them with a nice sand colored latex paint following by a light overspray of light brown.

If you want it really rough, take a look at Halfaya pas and sculpt some cliffs and escarpment

You probably want to make some sangars as well. Just glue some pebbles to a base.

Most desert terrain(other than in Hollywood) is not just sand dunes. It is usually fairly flat with a lot of small shrubs/plants.

Thanks to wackmole9 for putting that link up to my blog.

Razuse: if you are interested, here are some links to specific pages on my blog devoted to various terrain projects which could be useful for North Africa…

If you are up for a somewhat labour-intensive approach to building model rocky hills and mountains, you could visit this particular page of my blog, detailing the first such wood-chip hill I built, back in 2012:

Here's one sample pic:

For "Sangars," here's a link to a post I did a few years ago on building some -- I will add that if you want to go fast and easy you could make pretty nice sangars using carboard bases cut to size and broken bits of inexpensive styrofoam, secured with a hot-glue gun:

Another pretty common piece of desert terrain is rocks. Here's a LINK to a post about building decent looking rocky terrain relatively easily, using garden wood bark chips, which again I think should work for 54mm figures as well as 28mm:

…and here's a couple of sample pics:
