I need some quick advice. I have read about flow improvers and see how they can be of service. I have a bottle of Vallejo Game Color thinner. Before I order flow improver, will the thinner do the same thing? This is for acrylics. Thanks in advance. |

I'm not sure what is in the thinner, but I would guess not. The "flow improvers" usually have an agent that reduce the surface tension of the paint, so it is less likely to "bead," and is better able to flow into low points. In the old days, people just used a tiny drop of dishwashing soap in water to make their own flow enhancer. |

I use this product with acrylics---it works really well (has made me love my washes/links, which I cut with this stuff to reduce the strength). It's sold by various people on eBay, too. link |

Thanks for the advice. I will pick up the folk art flow medium tomorrow. |

I've used quite a range of different "additives," I've settled down to Vallejo "Thinner Medium," for general thinning, and Vallejo "Glaze Medium" for thinning when I want to do layering (most of the time). The "Glaze Medium" thins well, and keeps the paint wet for quite a while. |
