So Macron won, don't want to get into politics. But I just read the trivia that he is the youngest french leader since Napoleon. Does that mean sometime this fall the French army will cross the alps into northern Italy?

Mon ami, age does not an Empereur make!

C'est vrai

And if the French crossed into Northern Italy about half of the population would sign up so they could ditch Southern Italy

But it would all end in tears at Waterloo.

I hear the Austrian army is a wee tiny bit smaller nowadays :-)

Yes, they will march across the Alps with buckets full of euros and bail out the Italian banks before they collapse… Not as dramatic as 1793, but just as costly in treasure.

Another parallel? Louis Napoleon was only slightly older (aged 40) when elected as president in 1848.
