As I work on my Russian invasion of Estonia wanted to double check what people have for TO&Es. For Russian infantry I assume the russians are still using their 80's set up of 10 man squads with a SAW and RPG. For airborne and marine I believe they are 8 man squads with the same. Anyone have good intel on this?
From the Estonian defense page I get the impression they have switched to a western model of 8 man squads with LAWS and SAWS.

Thanks

Joe

Not 100% sure, but most of their APCs/IFVs seem to carry 8 dismounts, since the 1980s (10, I imagine, only if you include the driver and gunner of the vehicles, which don't dismount). Probably the same for their naval infantry.

I think the airborne squads will be smaller, since they're carried in those small little BMDs, so probably 5 – 6 men per vehicle.

Mako,

Thanks for the answer. I knew about the dedicated driver/gunner for the BMPs. Not as much info out there as I would think; at least in english.

Thanks again

Joe

As I recall Russian Naval Infantry units are the same as their motor rifle unit counterparts. However, the BMD can only carry 5 or 6 dismounts making their VDV platoons a whopping 15 dismounts with 6 driver/gunners in the vehicles. Tiny but highly motivated units.

Thanks for the info.
