Some are really good ones. Prisoners who built the Bridge over the River Kwai denounced the movie as nothing like the suffering they went through building the railroad of death. I have had the movie for 20 years but have never opened it after seeing a documentary on the railroad and interviews with those who were forced to build it. Deer Hunter is not a Prisoner of War movie; sure there are prisoner scenes but it is basically an anti-war movie and not in my opinion a very good war movie prisoner or otherwise. The Great Escape, and Colditz movies are good maybe even the greatest of their genre. Most of the others though stink or are just average.

Merry Christmas Mister lawrence should have been in there instead of Empire of the Sun. I wanted to like Empire but it just fell flat.

Have to admit, some I had never heard of, a few I'd have considered instead are: Decision Before Dawn, Hanoi Hilton, Unbroken or To End All Wars.

Albert RN, the Wooden Horse would be in my list over some of these. Plus The One That Got Away staring Hardy Kruger as the only successful German escapee from the British in WW2.

I liked Stalag 17 and Victory.

Try George Segal in "King Rat" -- allied prisoners in a Japanese camp.

King Rat and Stalag 17 are classics and my two favorites
