Hello,
Does 54mm Alamo work well with 40mm miniatures?

Gone Fishing02 May 2017 4:58 p.m. PST

I haven't tried or seen it myself, but suspect that wouldn't work well.

54mm figures would work well enough with 40mm buildings -- the other way round, not so sure.

The reverse would more likely be true.

Wait, what? a 54mm Alamo? How big is your gaming room?

40mm figures? You'd need Albert Speer to manage your figure painting production before you have enough of them.

That said, pics! I want to see this. How cool!

10th Mountain – I have used 40MM figures with some 54MM Alamo terrain pieces. From what I have done I found they are very suitable. I have a 54mm North Wall piece and a corner wall\house section, I got both from Hobby Bunker I believe. They are sold as 54mm but my opinion is they are better suited for 40MM. Probably other pieces would work I assume. My Alamo chapel is scratch built, except the front façade. I used a modified BMC Chapel façade. Shortened the length but kept same height as would be used with 54MM.

There are various Alamo "PlaySets" close enough to 54mm that could be used for the buildings However as others have pointed out using 40mm figures will be costly in terms of money, effort and time

I take it you have one or the other--I wonder which?

Sash and Saber has both:

Doing the whole thing--yes,that would take a lot of space/time /money. But I've seen games that do only part--an assault on a wall sector, for example.

It would probably work well if you called them Hobbits in an alternate universe!
