So… Having designed a bunch of 3D printable ships, I figured I should actually print, paint and rig some of them (unlike the Man 'o War models that I designed, which never actually became fleets in my possession…).

But what, and how many? I know, let's print the battle of Trafalgar! Right… I started along that path but then decided that stopping 25% of the way there was *totally* reasonable.

So here it is, 25% of the Battle of Trafalgar on 1:1000 scale 3D printed ships:

The ships are labeled with names and nationalities of some of the ships actually at Trafalgar, with stats from Osprey's Fighting Sail (which I plan to get around to playing) with each side having ~700 point fleet within that system.

I broke down and actually modeled the Santísima Trinidad even though it's a one-of ship to complete the Spanaish contingent.

As always, you can find my models here:

N.B.

$0.15 CAD printer plastic
$0.40 CAD wooden base (excessive, but easy)
$0.25 CAD black enameled 16 ga wire for masts
$0.05 CAD 1/4 sheet of 65 lb parchment cardstock for sails
$0.02 CAD 1/10 sheet glossy photo paper for base image

<$1.00/ship….

Very nice. Where did you get the image you used on your ships bases and how did you print and mount it? I have been trying to capture something similar to use on my ships bases but nothing seems to work for me.

It's the 5th one that comes up when you google "boat wake from above"

I just erased the bow of the speed boat and printed on photo paper. Mounted to a wood strip with Mod Podge and dropped the ship on it. I did experiment with mod podging over the image too but didn't like the effect.
