Looking at putting together a warband for MWWBK rules – what's your opinion on the OG mounted and dismounted Apaches?

I've got some Foundry and Artizan figures, will add Galloping Major soon. Black Scorpion look good but maybe too large even for skirmish games and likewise Dixon, which are 'small' 25s.

Any others I should consider ?

Black Scorpion will not fit with your Foundry size figs at all. Nice figs. Just WAY too large. Dixon will fit in with them just fine. I own loads of all you mentioned.

I use a mixture of Dixon and Foundry figures and they are compatible. I looked at the OG figures and thought they were OK but not as good as the figures I already had, but size wise they looked a good match with Foundry.

I like the OG Apaches, but I don't have any other manufacturer to mix them with. My OG Apaches paint up well, and are nicely sculpted, IMHO.

Thanks for the advice, gents. I'm encouraged that the Dixon and Foundry Apaches are compatible, as they've got some interesting stuff: the samples of the former that I bought are tiny compared to my Foundry Plains Indians – are the Foundry Apache of an earlier vintage than their Sioux and US Cavalry maybe?

No, all the Foundry Indians were sculpted by Mark Copplestone during the brief existence of Guernsey Foundry, before the merger with Wargames Foundry, so they're all the same size.

I'd rate the OG Apaches as good, compared to excellent for the Foundry figures. The detail on the latter is just significantly more nuanced, however the superiority of the Foundry sculpts is only visible on close inspection and won't be apparent at standard tabletop viewing distance. Size-wise they blend well.

Good to know, Henry, thanks!
