Briefly skimming a Wikipedia article, I read that the Iranians had FT-6 and Pz38/t tanks. Close, at any rate. Our group has the models. What 15mm figures would closely proxy Iranian troops and artillery for a one off battle or campaign vs 1942 or 1941 British or Soviets? |

You can check the Janes book on fighting vehicles for the late 1930s or 1940 to see what type of tanks they used. Plenty of material on them. Several campaigns. I had enough data to do a number of scenarios for my booklet. Not sure about the castings. Their native dress was pretty common. Maybe even a few French helmets as they would have gotten them with the tanks. Same for the Chezh gear. The French casting in a lot of cases would be too heavily dressed. |

Pre-war and WWII Iranian uniforms as I recall had a very German influence – I have seen a few pics of the troops in Stalhelm. The forage caps were visorless caps much like the Turks used I believe they were a light khaki colour |

To judge from these photos, Chinese WW2 might do for you. I hope you use some AH-1Vs! |

The Persian tanks (Czech CKD TNH) seem to be similar to the Panzer 35T(Iranian one has different cupola iirc) and the FOW Romanian R-1 is nearly the same as the Czech AH-IV used by the Iranians link painted up a 35T and two R-1's in Iranian colors. I need a decal set for the numbers and Iranian royal crest or whatever it is on the turrets. I haven't got the infantry yet, but the suggestion they are similar to some WW2 Chinese is a good one. Puttees, German style helmets, light khaki colors. link |

Several folks here refer to the Persian Army using Czech CKD TNH tanks, and then suggest using Pz35t models. I think this is the wrong model. The Czech CKD TNH was taken into German service as the Pz38t. The Pz35t was the Skoda
This image, from the tanks-encyclopedia.com website, presents a Persian TNH tank. Note the running gear. This is clearly the same hull used by the Germans for the Pz38t. But the turret is somewhat different from the Pz38t. It has a rounded back that lacks the bustle area of the Pz38t turret. And the gun is not a German 37mm gun, but rather the Skoda 37mm gun as used in the Skoda tanks of the period. Note the long recuperator above the barrel -- a visual recognition feature of the Pz35t but not the Pz38t. (To help disambiguate for the reader, CKD and Skoda were two separate Czech companies with competing tank designs. After Germany took over, both came under German control and were, I believe, effectively merged. Or at least the CKD design was effectively given over the Skoda for manufacturing. So the Pz38t and it's derivatives are often referred to as "Skoda's". But up until 1939 that particular design was a competitor to Skoda's design, which was the Pz35t.) Small diffs, but may be of interest to those who are building a Persian force. -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |
