Recently Firedragon Games was referenced in a post on the fantasy product reviews board. I visited their site and immediately found a bunch of useful stuff at really great prices! They sell blue foam sheets textured in brick and other types of stone patterns, as well as cut foam bricks. They also have a line of resin/plastic doorways and arches and things. I ordered some of their loose bricks and a few of their archway bits. At the price they are charging it's totally worth it to not have to go through the hassle of cutting my own bricks from foam, which I find to be tedious. If you are doing games like a Frostgrave where you need bits of ruins, or any kinds of ruins or buildings for Warhammer, this site is a great find for terrain-building! Also just want to give props to the fellows there for including an extra free doorway in my order, which seems to be a really nice courtesy that gaming companies in the UK and Europe often do! Good people to deal with. I placed an order last fall for some of the ruins. When it arrived, one of the parts were different than the image on the website. I sent an e-mail to ask if there had be a change (only part of molds going bad and all that)and they said no, it was a mistake. I told them I was OK with it since I still had the same number of parts, but they insisted on sending the correct component. With postage to and from the UK being what is, that's pretty impressive. |

I thought I was looking at the packing material, but they really were blue foam bricks? |

I thought I was looking at the packing material, but they really were blue foam bricks? Yup. I bought some stuff from them- I really like the look of it. Hopefully, I will get to put it to use in the near future. |

@mwindsorfw, Lol, yeah that's what I thought too when I first posted the pictures. But yes, they are meant to be miniature masonry bricks. Actually you're probably familiar with products like this one that Pegasus Hobbies make:
It's the same thing except these are larger and have the corners rounded a bit more. I'm sure that Firedragon cuts these with some kind of a machine, there's no way they could make any money on them if they were cutting these things by hand. I'm not a gamer that has the luxury of a full-basement machine shop where I can use automation to produce terrain projects. I have to do stuff by hand, and this was one of those things where despite it seeming to be a really simply thing to make on your own… …Anyone who has tried to cut miniature bricks by hand will probably report that it's surprisingly more difficult than at first assumed. For my skills, they just don't look right when I cut them, invariably one of my measurements isn't perfectly straight and when I try to cut along the measuring lines the bricks are usually cock-eyed! Plus having the nice detail of the corners being rounded so uniformly, that is a detail that would be nearly impossible to achieve by hand with sand paper. |
