Near the westin.

Really looking for a good Italian Beef Sammich.

Or a good pizza. One that'll deliver to the hotel would be best.

There is a Portillo's about 5 minutes west of the Westin.

If you want to get out for a quick bite, look for Frankie's Deli on the north side of Yorktown mall. Good place to get a sandwich after all that convention food.

Good pizza or the Chicago thing?

shthar26 Apr 2017 6:29 p.m. PST

mainly a pizza that delivers, looks like it's gonna rain all weekend.

That "Chicago Thing" you so rudely dismiss is one of the finest culinary inventions of the 20h century. It's identification as pizza is, admittedly, debatable but that does not diminish its deliciousness.

I believe here is a Giordano's in delivery range of the hotel.

The Weber Grill kettle restaurant just down the road was really good when we went last year. Mid tier dining.

Portillos for the Italian beef. I'll second Frankie's as well.

There is also a good Mexican place (Burrito Parrilla Mexicana) about 2 min away by car.

Italian Beef sandwich--is that like a Philly Cheese steak?

Perris070727 Apr 2017 5:34 a.m. PST

Sort of. But not really. More juicy in my experience.

There is a strip mall across from the hotel. Last year there was a great Italian deli in it. I got a foot long meatball sandwich that was awesome for something like $5. USD They had all sorts of other good stuff too. That must have been Frankies that others have mentioned. I hope they are still there.

The Harry Carey's in the hotel is good, if a bit pricey.

Chicago Pizza : Lou Malnati's which we had delivered to the hotel every year that the Westin was the venue for AdeptiCon.

Chama Gaścha Brazilian Steakhouse is right down the road outstanding but on the expensive side.

As mentioned Portillos, while maybe not the best Italian Beef in Chicago, it is very very good and very close by.

Upvote for Lou Malnatis as well. Weber grill is also outstanding.

Chama Gaścha Brazilian Steakhouse is great! Just go hungry.

ScoutJock29 Apr 2017 6:48 a.m. PST

Rock Bottom Brewery is on the other side of the mall. It is part of a brewpub chain with good, but a bit pricey food and a good selection of really fresh and terrific beer.

I second Portillos for Italian beef, just make sure you order it " hot and wet."

For what they call pizza in Chicago, Lou Malnatis, Giordanos and Gino's East all have good examples with Lou being the best IMHO. Just be patient because it takes about 45 minutes to get your order out. A two inch thick pizza takes a while to cook!

It rained like hell, so we got chinese delivered.
