The games took place in the hilly regions of Armenia, terrain a nightmare for a mounted force.

Hard fought battles with a surprise in between.

Interesting that even with some fairly favorable terrain the Armenians couldn't pull one out.

On another note, per the discussion on the Sassanid 3KN after the last AAR, in looking over the OG15 Early Clibanari they appear to fit the bill to do dual duty – Clibanari equipage on barded horses. Will do for 3KN for the Sassanid 'a' list or CV for that list and later lists.

Just added them to the queue.

I did expect more from the Armenian as these games were fought in 'home' terrain.

The historic match series began in September 2016 and since then I have logged 138 games. This involved the Consular Army, the Seleucid, the Severan (MIR) both East and West, the Early Byzantine and now the Sassanid.

Although the die cast determines which quadrant terrain pieces are placed in one does develop a critical 'eye'. Keep in mind the attacker has choice of board edge so placing terrain should cater to that possibility as well.

Two more series for the Sassanid (b & c sub-lists) to complete and then I would like to share some ideas with a series on terrain; the seven terrain groups, terrain placement, size of the feature, and advantages of certain types over others.

Had me wondering as I looked at the reports if the Armenians should have been less forward.

Another set I'll have to give a go at.

Looking forward to the rest of the series.
