Some of those will work for Alexander III, but still none in the little fur hat.

It's just a small conversion, easily achievable.

The "little fur hat" was a parade dress item, and even then only for certain units. In the field, either the furushka (forage cap as on the left most figure) or, for Siberiens, the papaha (the big, shaggy fur hat) was worn.

For my money the main problem with Russo-Japanese minis (especially in the larger scales) is the rifle. A Mosin-Nagant doesn't really look much like a Berdan, though I guess you could cut away the magazine and fill in the side groove.

Ironically, the Berdan was still in use with some units (primarily reserve and rear echelon ones), but I've never seen any R-J War minis that show it.

rmaker, thank you for that info. Funnily enough the Bulgarians did wear it on the field in 1885, and for the 3rd Ban in 1912-1913. I was mainly looking for Bulgarian proxies at ranges less then 28mm (were dedicated ranges exist) for 1885. But I guess c'est la vie.
