I'm looking at getting some of Foundry's medieval ribaulds (MED212). These were sculpted several years ago by the Perry brothers but I'm wondering how they compare size wise with the current Perry medieval (specifically the WotR) ranges and Claymore Castings. The Claymore range is sculpted by Paul Hicks so if anyone has any of his other ranges, I'd be grateful if you could compare them and see how they size up! |

I don't have any medievals to compare, but I have both Perry and Foundry ECW figures. I find that they mix OK, but the Foundry figs are slightly smaller. Mark |

The foundry perry are a little smaller than their modern stuff. The style is the same so it is not a glaring difference. |

Always bear in mind that within one unit there would be many men of differing heights and builds. The archaeological report of the Towton (1461) gravepit suggests a height range of around 5ft 3 to 5ft 10 and corresponding differences in build. Thin, medium, stocky. Remember also that Edward IV was 6ft 2 so a 'heroic' CinC figure is not unrealistic. When doing 15mm units I am not too bothered if there is a 10% difference in height. If worst comes to worst I can always put the smaller figure on a thickness of card (or two) and raise his height on the unit base and texture around him. He then looks like he is standing on a molehill! Barry |

I think it matters more when they start carrying guns. Bows, swords, halberds, spears come in all different sixes but a Enfield Rifle or 1903 Springfield should essentially all be the same size even if the person holding it is short or tall There used to be a thing in Imperial Germany where the got the shortest and tallest man in the regiment together for a photo take a look at a few of those |
