Hi everyone, I mentioned this in another thread, but I thought I'd remind everyone that Captaincy is 1/3rd off (i.e., 10USD) for the rest of April, at link Captaincy is a new perspective on the long age of sail, from 1560 to 1815. AOS players at stores and conventions have been strongly impressed by the rules, so I feel confident about recommending them here. The rules are particularly focused on small ships and small actions. I'm currently working on a new campaign system that will enhance the fight-or-flight dilemma of encounters between patrols, merchants, and privateers. This will be posted gratis on the wargame vault page and may eventually go in a second edition. If anyone wants a free pdf of Captaincy, in return for a solemn oath to play a couple of short campaign system games and report back, write cursdcaptain at gmail -- let's say the first five sincere respondents. FYI the game scales to any models and is light on space and models and even -- once you get the hang of the rules -- time itself. smooth sailing to all, John |

I have to say, I am *not* impressed. All those test games and I wasn't invited to a single one…. Humph! :-) I purchased these rules last year almost immediately after I discovered your name attached to them, and they're on my "must try" list. I've been looking for something "right" to use with my sadly underused collection of 1/600 scale galleons, and from a brief glance, it looks like Captaincy may be the closest to the rules I've been missing. I've got 3 projects in the way, then Captaincy is going for a maiden voyage. - Ix |

What's the "scale" of game – one-on-one duels, massive battles like Trafalgar, or something in between? |

To Ix -- I sent out a press gang for you but they brought back a monkey dressed in your clothes, instead. Drop me a line mate. To Last Conformist, who I'm guessing is a Bertolucci fan? My focus in writing the game was small actions, not fleet evolutions. The rules advise 1-3 ships per player. The first supplement (late this year or early next) will offer a system for breaking up big battles into squadron encounters. |

Thanks :) (No, I'm not a Bertolucci fan – had to google the name.) |
