…to demonstrate its military might. "North Korea has said it is ready to sink a US aircraft carrier to demonstrate its military might, as two Japanese navy ships joined a US carrier group for exercises in the western Pacific. US President Donald Trump ordered the USS Carl Vinson carrier strike group to sail to waters off the Korean peninsula in response to rising tension over the North's nuclear and missile tests, and its threats to attack the United States and its Asian allies. The United States has not specified where the carrier strike group is as it approaches the area. US vice president Mike Pence said on Saturday it would arrive "within days" but gave no other details…" Main page link Amicalement Armand

If that happens, I think the technical term for it would be…"a bad thing". |

This is actually one of their threats that they could possibly carry through with due to their subs. |

That would certainly be a very serious escalation it would seem.. Regards Russ Dunaway |

To say nothing of the attack subs randomly wandering around the Pacific looking for targets of opportunity. OK, those are usually just peacetime tracking exercises, but do remember that the US has 15-20 SSNs at sea at any given time. Plus 3 SSGNs packed to the gills with Tomahawks and SEALs. |

"This is actually one of their threats that they could possibly carry through with due to their subs" About as much chance as a WWII uboat. |

Little chance that they would even find it as there is a lot of sea out there for a few old subs to cover. Though they might just look at the US Navies website for a clues as they seem quite keen to tell all. Not sure if this is the USN saying "come ahead if you think you are hard enough" or just a PR department that has forgotten the navies purpose. Probably the latter. |

Especially as the particular task force they are w=referring to was about 3500 miles away at the time, and heading away from the Korean peninsular, despite what the US President said. |
