I'm excited about a new version for the first time since 4th Edition. :D |

I have high hopes too, but the vehicle rumors really don't sound good to me… Damon. |

No more armour on vehicles. Vehicles have a damage table as they take damage (wounds) stats decrease, every vehicle has its own damage table. Movement could decrease, weapons get damaged, as vehicles take damage. From here: TMP link |

That's not a rumor, GW said it was happening. This will make dreadnauts worth using again, and overall will be better IMO. |

Personally I like armour ratings for vehicles they should be different to infantry giving them toughness and wounds seems like a big step back to me. |
Garand | 24 Apr 2017 12:52 p.m. PST |
I agree. The current system at least models vehicles better. I would wonder if vehicles will have toughness based on facing? Also the idea that a bunch of marines hosing down a Land Raider with bolters will eventually kill it doesn't sit easily with me either (as hard as GW claims it will be…) Damon. |

As opposed to killing a tank with swords? Wyatt |

In 40K first turn shooting for tanks often decided the battle. New rules should help. |
15mm and 28mm Fanatik | 24 Apr 2017 4:30 p.m. PST |
I don't think it's a bad idea. Tanks have been much easier to kill than high toughness multiple wound heroes and monstrous creatures in 40K. |
Prince Rupert of the Rhine | 25 Apr 2017 1:49 a.m. PST |
Never thought tanks were overly easy to kill in 40k. (Though I still play 4th edition so things may have changed). It takes some pretty good dice rolling to stop a land raider or Russ with a single shot. Dark/bright lances aside… |

In Age of Sigmar, it would take about 12 arrows to do 1 wound to a steam tank. I expect that vehicles will have a 2+ save (at least), not a 3+ like the steam tank, which would mean about 20 to do 1 wound. They will also have other rules, perhaps, like ignoring some rending or having an additional save. So lasguns and bolters will not be worth shooting at it really, you will have other targets they wont be wasted on. All this 8th edition panic and misrepresentation is just silly. The positive side, however, is that it may lead many douchey players to rage quit when their silly combos no longer work and you have to use some tactics. |

The positive side, however, is that it may lead many douchey players to rage quit when their silly combos no longer work and you have to use some tactics. People have been saying that for just about every edition of 40K and WFB/AOS that was every released the truth is it was never the rules that were a problem but the people who play them… |
Centurio Prime | 25 Apr 2017 9:11 a.m. PST |
That's true, they are creeping back into Age of Sigmar |
Centurio Prime | 25 Apr 2017 9:15 a.m. PST |
Rupert, the thing is that those seem to be the first to rage quit, so at least there will be a respite, until they figure out their gimmick or loophole for the new edition. |
The Beast Rampant | 25 Apr 2017 12:02 p.m. PST |
the truth is it was never the rules that were a problem but the people who play them… I disagree. Aspects of rules can certainly encourage gaminess and powergaming. I hope 8th is mindful of such things, but don't expect that it will be munckinbane. Xintao: |

I hope 8th is mindful of such things. Probably won't be since this is GW and unless they have gotten better at writing rules there will still be… WAAC'ers who will try and game the system/rules. |

Personally I like armour ratings for vehicles they should be different to infantry giving them toughness and wounds seems like a big step back to me. Not really and this means that you should be able to kill them. Since yes with the current rules you got to roll to hit and than roll to see if you did anything and then roll to see what damage you did. For Example a Missile Launcher firing a Krak missile was not a great weapon for killing vehicles. Sure it Str 8 and you get that additional d6 but what is the average pen roll 10-12 so against many vehicles or Dreads it would just bounce. Oh and yes Las Gun armed Imperial Guard will be able to kill a Land Raider. |

So now that above Krak Missile will cause a certain amount of damage to a vehicle instead of bouncing which could damage it enough for that Squad of Imperial Guard to finish it off. |

The PR for this new system is the best I remember seeing. Hopefully all that effort mirrors effort on the game design front aw well. I'm interested enough I will get the core book at least. |
