Ran a biggish 20mm Revolution game last week, pictures and an AAR posted on my blog -

Please understand this was a fun made-up game and NOT a serious attempt at recreating history – if you have issues – keep them to yourself :)

Very nice Richard – looks like a fun game.

What a splendid game. Lucky boys! History is great, but so is fun for fun's sake.

Great game!

We have done Mexican Revolution a few times and we do find that about mid-game for some reason all thought of objectives seems to vanish

Excellent. Which set of rules did you use?

Richard Baber24 Apr 2017 5:34 a.m. PST

Charles Grant`s "Battle" our rules of choice for all periods 1890 – 1960 :)

Great looking game..

Deeply inspiring. Sorry if I missed it, but who makes the figures? I love the automobiles – history be damned! Thanks very much for sharing.

Richard Baber24 Apr 2017 6:58 a.m. PST

All sorts of figures – Raventhorpe, Irregular, Shellhole Scenics, ERM and Tumbling Dice plus numerous conversions and head-swaps.

The Armoured car and lorry are both Shellhole Scenics, the sedan is a converted di-cast.

Hi Richard,

I really enjoyed reading your AAR and seeing the photos of your game! Looks great! I also liked the reference to Janssens book on the early Revolution. I have that one and also his recently published two-part edition covering 1913 and 1914, and I'm spring-loaded to acquire his next edition on 1915 as soon as it's published. I'm hopeful of someday completing a series of Mexican Revolution games using the Piquet-Barrage WWI rules and Janssen is my primary source for developing the scenarios and adapting the rules for the Mexican Revolution.

Enjoy your games!

I have all 3, but i`m only 3-quarters through the first one – just superb :)

I`m also awaiting the next volume and will be buying it upon release :)

Thank you for your kind comments :) I`d be interested in reading your scenarios if you ever get them down on paper – all the best

Richard

Richard,

I have read Janssens first volume word-for-word, cover-to-cover and have taken copious notes on combat effects and orders of battle for developing my games. As you say, the book is superb!

With many other real-life challenges in progress, I haven't had a chance to start on the 1913 book yet, but I'm hopeful of going through that with notepad in hand this summer, then onward to 1914.

I'll definitely share whatever I get down on paper in the fullness of time!

All the best,
Jan
