Thought I'd finally get round to putting some pics up of some of my collection. Mahdists trying to hold off a British relief column which is trying to get to the Egyptian garrison which is holed up in the town along with a small unit of British who were there for training purposes.Meanwhile the remaining Mahdists try and overwhelm the town. The gunboat was there to evacuate the British and had a Nordenfeldt ready with orders to shoot any Egyptians or Bashis who tried to board in order to escape!
The mat is from Tiny Wargames.
Sorry the images aren't razor sharp, used the camera on my phone. |

Wowzers! It looks more, like the British are trying to hold off the Dervish. I particularly like the terrain and all the work that must have gone into that. Figures are pretty nice too. |

Thanks guys. The table is 12ft x 5ft, I couldn't find a shed wide enough to give me an extra 1ft of table that I really wanted. There's approx 500 Ansar on foot,24 camelry, 42 Baggara horse, 2 Krupps and a Gatling on the table. Only about a third of the British I've painted were on here and the same for the Egyptians. There's about 190 Egyptians/Sudanese and same number of British Imperial plus 2 Krupps, 2 MGs and 66 cavalry. We just can't fit them all on at once! In this scenario the Mahdists managed to finally break into the town and slaughter everyone after some heroic resistance, especially from the Bashi Bazouks, surprise surprise. The Relief Column almost got as far as the native village on the right flank and just past the farm on the left before giving up. We use Black Powder and the Relief force had some pretty unlucky dice throws I have to say, not that Her Majesty will take that into account I'm sure. Currently the score is Mahdists 2 Brits 0 on this table. |

Very impressive! Looks brilliant. I love the terrain mat as well. This makes me want to paint more Beja, I only have about 180. |

TThanks everyone. As a follower of Der Alte Fritz's blog I am admirer of his games and try to follow his and others magnificent examples. I just need a better understanding of how my camera works so I can use it instead of the phone. Once I get around to it there's about 2000 SYW 28mm figs to bring out and squeeze on the table for a big bash. |

Just a couple more pics.
This one shows the markers I use for Black Powder, bottom right corner. The casualty figures denote disordered with fuzzy wuzzies and British figures appropriate for each side. The spear and shield marker is for shaken Mahdist units, and the British have an ammo box and helmet on theirs. The casualties are noted by the round counter markers supplied by Warbases, suitably painted and textured.
