The recent poll on your favourite part of a bayonet got me wondering about this. What is your favourite bayonet type? Any love for the pig sticker?

Based on personal familiarity I'd have to go for the L1 series as used on the 7.62mm SLR. |

I like the old-timey long triangular ones from the 18th century through the Martini-Henry era. After that, the long knife kind found on French and British bolt-action rifles into the 1940s. Not a fan of short spikey types or bob-tailed blades. |

The No. 4 has its pigsticker, but I prefer blades. One of these days the L1s will get theirs. |

I would really like to know what type and make I have, I fixed it to fit on my Brown Bess replica but it isn't really for it. It is a socket bayonet |

Is that the one with the hefty brass handle? For the Lebel? I very good looking bayonet, that. |

Buff, I used to snap that NO.4 on a Lee Enfield, many times, thanks for the memory. Favorite: Lee Enfield Mk1, I have one.
