Just got a huge stash of Star Wars Armada. Just wondering who else is playing.

The rules look pretty straight forward and the figures are really nice.

The only downside that I can see is the cost.

Luckily I got in at a fantastic price point.

Just finished organizing all the tokens.

I know indierockclimber here on TMP posts a lot of Armada content (pretty sure I got the account name correct).

For local players, there is usually a good following at your FLGS. I've yet to find one without at least a small cadre of diehard Armada players. Many are not even stereotypical "tournament" players.

As for cost, Amazon helps if you are looking to expand.

Yeah, unfortunately price has held me off. I just don't have $100 USD to toss in as a start up cost. And you get three actual ships… no thanks. I'll do Full Thrust or something.

Yes, a lot of people are playing. I've posted a number of battle reports on this forum and Indierockclimber has also posted a lot of good stuff. There are several Armada Facebook groups. It's a very good game and has the best relationship between big ships and fighters I've seen in a game. They are important, but not overwhelming.

The price can be a little daunting, but the product is first rate and you really don't need a huge number of ships to have fun.

Yes, definitely playing. My buddy plays rebellion, I went Empire. Works for us.

This being said, I do not think one needs to buy everything that is being released.

It is a good game. The mission objectives have to be re-translated into plain english but they definitely add to the game.

Nyet, since the ships are so small, and expensive.

Full Thrust for me, with more affordable options, including diecast miniatures, GZG and other spaceships, and even models.

I do with my son. I don't think I will buy everything like I did for X-Wing, but I have bought in pretty deep. It plays so different from X-Wing, we really enjoy it. We have some plans to roll both games together. lots of fun.

We play once per month (in London UK). We're not so cost constrained which is a good job. Currently playing Corellian Conflict campaign.

I don't see the game as being any more expensive than Warhammer or Warmachine.

Realistically all you need is the Box set, another set of fighters and one or two ships and you are good to go.

Game size is 400 points, but you could spend at least 50-75 points just on upgrade cards.

For example I created a quick Army
1 Star Destroyer $50 USD
1 Gladiator $40 USD
1 Rogue Fighter Pack $19 USD
1 Imperial Fighter Squadrons $19 USD

You need the box set, but that would add an extra $100. USD

So for around $200 USD+ you can have a good sized force for Armada.

Yep, game is awesome.

Some great looking models!

The basic game is usually marked down on most online hobby stores so not too pricy. You will find getting at least one of each just for the card upgrades, but no one is forcing you to do that unless you play tournaments.

The miniatures ARE some of the best I have ever seen, but I have to go with what many are saying.. the cost.

But that "quick Army" adds up to about $228 USD!
I just cant see $50 USD for 'One' miniature. But I liked the game played cpl demo's.

Have considered using the now older, cheaper SW Starship Battles ships in stead.
No not the same quality, less variety & 'almost' all are the same size but cost wise, much better.

If I were to buy any of Armada, it would definetly be their fighter sets.
Amazing and Ive seen some that were painted up great!
