Does anyone know if these rules written, By Roger Edward Bigg and published by skytrex are a skirmish level, brigade level, division level or Corp level rule set? They are a very old rule set I th ink from the 1980s.

The level isn't specified. 1mm – 1 yard, 1 move = 1 minute, 1 5mm figure = 1 man, 1 15mm figure = 10 men, 1 25mm figure = 25 men, a 76mm x 13mm base of infantry is assumed to be 100 men. A base seems to be a "unit", the army record chart has space for 35 units.

Looking at the address I've written in my copy they were around by 1981.

Have you ever played them, and if so are they worth the time?

No. I used to buy a lot of rule sets, but am put off games which need a lot of record keeping.

I can't think of any rules from the late 70s and early 80s that I'd want to try now…

what rules would you recommend for WW1 then? I'm not that interested in skirmish level.

It is a very long time since I used them, but I did a variant of Peter Pig's original AK47 Republic rules called "Great War" which work OK for up to a division – they can be found in the files area of the RFCM Yahoo Group:

For higher level games Martin Rapier did a variant of Tim Gow's Megablitz called "Kaiserblitz" – it is here:

The most recent WW1 games I've played were run by Martin using Neil Thomas' One Hour Wargames.
