The last time I played an Old West game was over a decade ago and that was with Games Workshop's short-lived ruleset, so clearly this is not "my thing." But, there are enough people who appreciate it so I'm passing along word of an already-funded, and ongoing project.

Jolly Blackburn of Kenzer and Co (Knights of the Dinner Table) has put together a second edition of his ruleset. He's the type of person who sees a project through to completion, so a lot of the risks are mitigated.

It is a labor of love and a good read--I have the first edition--but it is so complicated that it is really only for true fans of the genre or collectors. I am still toying with whether to get in or just be content with my copies of various first edition material.

If someone IS, however, a fan of westerns as a roleplaying or even miniatures setting, I can heartily recommend it.

Is the game an alternate West setting, or purely historical?

The video says "west that might have been" and shows a Confederate States of America…so my guess is that it's alternative history. Whether the CSA has AK-47s…. :)

I am a big fan of the genre, but Aces & Eights was just so complicated and cumbersome, it was tried once, I regretted the time spent on it, and I put it away.

I may have chucked it during my last move, knowing I would never give this another try.

I wish Kenzer good luck and happy trails though. There must be many happy customers out there to make a reboot worth their while.
