I am finding myself becoming very nostalgic as I build some of this vintage GW stuff. I am also remembering how tight and crisp GW's casting was of their metals, things like cannons and wagons. I just built a circa. 1997 dwarf organ gun. All metal parts except for the wheels which are plastic. What a joy to build. Took me all of about ten minutes to assemble the cannon and attach the crew to their bases. Practically ZERO flash on either the cannon pieces or the crew. All the parts lined up perfectly with enough tightness to make the super glue bond guaranteed after a few moments of pressure. I contrast this with the recent Finecast grudge thrower I built a few days ago. Wow, what a difference. Some pics: link link link link |

GW from about 1992-1999 (give or take a couple years) really cannot be beat for cast quality or design quality. Best looking miniatures then. Best looking miniatures now. |
