They belong to Hindu, Moslem and much less Buddhist (mostly Sri-Lankan) armies as well and are typical of Indian warfare during those centuries. The following images include a Maratha armour and elaborate helmet (front and side view), four other
helmets mostly of the mail and plate type, a shield of the 15th c (copyright: Furusiyya art Foundation), another richly decorated shield, a chillanum dagger from Central or South India, a khukuri knife from North India (credit: oriental-arms.com ), a lion head-shaped canon, an elephant goad ankus, a detail from Indian arrows, an elephant body armour of the mail and plate type in an Indian museum and the head armour of another elephant, a battle axe, a typical redented sword, another mail and plate helmet with a shield and an forearm protector, a Maratha light horseman in a painting, a katar dagger, a pair of richly decorated flintlock pistols from N. India and finally a pata sword with full coverage of the swordsman's hand and lower forearm.
I also include two maps of the Indian subcontinent to illustrate the expansion of the Mughal Empire and the Indian subcontinent in the 18th century (a map from Shepherd's Atlas of World History, 1923…"
