Working of a campaign system for age of sail. Explained here:

Enjoy

Joe

Cool idea Joe, looks like fun. It reminds me of a computer game I played the hell out of in the 80s, "Pirates."

Jack

Warwell,
Thanks; how did you do that?
Jack, Yep. I had Sid Myer's Pirates as well. Great game! Did you have his spy one called Covert action?

Joe

Joe,

I didn't know about a spy one, but I played the hell out of Pirates.

Regarding getting the correct URL to link here:
I'm not sure how you do it now, but if you've got a webpage open for TMP, and a webpage open for your blog, click on the title of your blog. This will take you from your general blog page to the page for that particular post.

Then you simply move your cursor up top to the address bar, select the entire address, and copy it.

Then move to the TMP webpage and paste it.

V/R,
Jack

Sounds like a fun time Joe. Is that a campaign system of your own making or a published set?

Joe Legan14 Apr 2017 2:01 p.m. PST

Jack,
Yeah Pirates was great. Will test out the link thing.
link

WJ,
It is of my own making. Hope to publish it in the future.

Cheers
Joe

Jack,
Link didn't work. Now I was a senior officer; pretend you are talking to the Colonel and walk me through it. I went to the webpage with the current post and copied the address. What did I mess up?

Thanks

Joe

Damn, if you're having a problem with why I wrote, you must have been a damn General Officer!!!! ;)

Let me test here… I go to Google and type 'Platoon Forward blog.' I select the first result, takes me to your webpage. I grab the web address, copy, and paste:

platoonforward.blogspot.com/?m=1

Edit: okay, that worked. I go back to your webpage, I click on the post "The World ofLt…" I go to the address bar up top, copy, and paste:

link

Edit2: okay, worked like a champ. Troubleshooting…

1. Make sure you copy the entire address.

2. When you paste the link here, just right click and select 'paste,' or push Control-V. Do not type anything else before or after it, TMP's coding will automatically recognize it as a link.

3. Here is the one I think is happening: you have to be looking at the public face of your blog, not your personal page, where you can edit from (you are logged into Blogger and can edit posts). Other people cannot get into this, so they get an error message if you link to it.

When you are inside Blogger, on the page that shows you a list of all your posts, you have options to edit, delete, view, and share for published posts, and edit, preview, and delete for draft messages (you cannot link to draft posts, you have to publish them first).

On that screen, scroll to the post you wish to link to (one that is already published; Lt Ronoult's post is published already) and click on 'view.' This will open that post in a new window. That is your outward-facing blog (you can also get there by clicking the 'view blog' button at top left, but then you have to click on the post's title to get off your general, outward-facing blog page, to the blog page for that specific post). Then copy the address and paste in here.

Next up, posting pics:

Jack,
Will try again with your excellent explanation.

Oh my gosh it worked! Thanks Jack. You even pinpointed the problem; I was in my blogger. Wow, I will refrain from making MARINE comments for the rest of this month! Thanks.

When I was a brand new LT I was assigned to a combat MP platoon in Berlin. I gathered my platoon sergeant, and squad leaders together and told them I had no idea how to run a platoon. They said, " Sir, you are the first officer we have had that didn't think he was God's gift to the army. We will teach you." They did. I learned that I was to translate the CO's vision for the platoon, and then make sure the NCOs had the tools to execute on that vision. I was to shield the platoon from as much crap as I could and push our guys forward for recognition when possible. It worked well.
Thanks Jack.

Excellent, glad to hear it's working for you Joe.

And from your story I deduce that, since you listened to your NCOs, you may have been slightly more dangerous to the enemy than you were your self and your men. Clearly an above average officer! ;)

Jack

Jack,
I like to think so. : )
