"Meanwhile, while we await for Britannia epic series in which the Celts are fighting the Romans, there will be a movie in which people on the entirely side of the world are fighting them too! As 'Deadline' reports today Universal will produce WARRIOR QUEEN, based on the true story of the young African Queen Amanirenas. Queen Amanirenas ruled over the Kush Kingdom of Nubia, one of the richest Kingdom's in Ancient Africa. She successfully led her army of Nubians into battle against the mighty invading Roman Empire forcing them to withdraw and negotiate peace"
link Quite interesting for future wargames… (smile) Amicalement Armand

Running title for the film will be "Bring me the head of Emperor Augustus!" – In the vein of Sam Peckinpah's 1974 cult film. |

Rather amusing set of armor there – not exactly 1st Century BC. Also somewhat amusing to read the promo in that the Romans invaded in response to a Kushite invasion/raid. Although while the Romans maintained a military presence after restoring the border they did not levy tribute (definitely didn't pay tribute per a commenter on that linked site). Seem to have reached an live and let live arrangement. |
