So I've been plugging away at this 15mm WW1 project that I've become obsessed with, and finally have my first squad to show for it. These are mid to late war French from Peter Pig. Great figures from a great line, and I was pleased to discover they are cast in pretty tough metal. Those bayonets are stronger than I expected, though of course I have just jinxed myself there. Here I have a corporal, a chauchat gunner and his assistant, and six riflemen. The rest of the platoon are in varying degrees of readiness, and after them of course the Germans are on the block. I've gotten a copy of TFL's "Through the Mud and the Blood" that I am very eager to get on the table, so I may need to pick up the pace. A few more shots here if anyone is interested: link

They look great. I too love Peter Pig figures and am using them for most all of my Weird World War 1 and World War 2 armies. Are you going to be adding any tanks? Great fun there with camo patterns – Love them!!! Terry |

Nice work, PP is my favorite for WW1 figures. 15 seems like a great scale for Mud and Blood too. |

Thanks very much guys, I appreciate it. Terry, it will probably be a long while before I add any tanks. I bet they would be fun to paint up, but it really is straight up infantry tactics that interest me most. And It will take a lot of time just to get all of them finished! I've heard of other people's success stories running Through the Mud and the Blood with 15mm models, so I am looking forward to it. Has anyone else done it, and did you have to make any adjustments to the rules? The only places I've wondered about needing to make adjustments so far is with area-effect templates, like for mortars etc. |

Yes good looking figures – I can confirm they are well cast and the bayonets are sturdy. This reminds me I need to get on and finish my late war French army for Square Bashing day in June, got the figures painted half of them and gotten distracted ( no surprises there). Must remember to pick up some markers at Salute. |

Well done chap. Those are very stunning figures! What colour did you use for the blue? |

Thanks very much guys :) JD Lee, I think you're going to enjoy them, hope you post some pictures of your project. Young Guard, the color is British Azure Blue by Polly Scale (I have an old bottle from before they switched from acrylic to enamel. Not sure if you can still find that stuff. It was a sad day when they switched, as this was my favorite line of paints!). After the base coat I apply a dark blue wash from Citadel Colors (I think maybe Asurman blue, or something like that). Then I use the base color for the first round of highlights and add white for a small amount of brighter highlighting. |
