This new game Kickstarter seems to be going nicely, only about a grand to go… link … and while I know it's hardly the most radical concept for a space combat game, it does seem to have what's needed to offer multi-flight-per-side combat, without taking half a day, or half a table in cards, tokens, and dials. Not 3D, but not too hard to mod-in a few height levels for something I'm still working on… (or depth levels, to be more precise…) Might have to give this a go. |

It looks good so far. I am in. I have found, in the past, that 3D in games is usually a bit of a lame duck. It seldom adds much to the game while often dragging it down in terms of streamlining and game play. -Eli |

I'm also going in on this one. The figures look great. The rules come from a solid pedigree. It's meant to be "universal" and I'd like to see how they work for other sci-fi settings. I'm sold. |

I'm in too, not yet sure if they'll displace my other set of fighter rules, which I've done so much work for several classic settings, but I may use them with a setting or two, and the ships are great. |

I'm in for both the rules and the minis. The Light, Medium, and Heavy Fighters and Gunboats correspond closely to the Class 1 through 4 units of War Rocket. Could be fun to have my pulp space ships going nose to nose with these sexy futuristic ships. Regards, Scott Chisholm |

Eli – I'd agree that on the tactical level, 3D space combat adds too much complexity for too little fun. However, the setting / miniatures I'm working on require at least a representation of '3D-ness' for tactical purposes, because although it may have some look and feel of a space game, it has a more watery subject. :) Scott – on a tangent, I was also thinking of pulp space combat. 'Fighter' sized ships seem to fit that setting much better than the 'battleships in space' model. Then again, there's my collection of 1/144 Star Wars fighters… … it doesn't end, does it?!?! ;) |

Macross – Ken Burnside keeps telling me that when you run out of miniatures to paint, you die. At the rate I'm going, I should live forever! |

Macross – I always felt that 3D might be handled with some sort of simple markers for you Z axis. A counter or colored die used to represent +/- on that axis rather than complex stands or bendy mechanics. -Eli |

Martin, no, it doesn't end, nor should it… Leland R. Erickson Metal Express silent-death.mx |

Eli – oh, no zany stands, not on my watch. I like things like ball-mounts to permit indication of pitch or yaw in aircraft games (although they usually rely on friction and a snug fit), but nothing more. Counters will do nicely. Leland, I knew you'd pop up from the inky darkness sometime… :) |

A friend is in for the book, though I may hang an Osprey or Concord on his pledge. Gunboats that could be flown as larger, don't you know. Doug |

Very true, Doug. Actually, the alien ships have few (if any) scale tell-tales, so they could easily be anything up to dreadnoughts, if one was so inclined. |
