Recriminations and accusations followed by weakness created through loyalty, valour and sacrifice. On my, lovely tale of woe and misbegotten martial airs. Thanks for sharing.

Here is part 2 posted today

This series of four posts covers the action from October 1692 when we fought six connected battles over two days.

Over the winter I consolidated the data and narrative to contextualize what we are doing in 1693's(2017) campaign season. Last weekend we fought the first five battles of the season and those reports will drip out over the coming weeks.
The 1693 season commenced with religious insurrection in Scotland, cavalry clashes in Yorkshire and the invasion of Jamaica

And here is Part 3 of last year's tale

I'm curious concerning all the machinations and plotting going on amongst the various players. Did that come about due to their own ideas or were they given briefing sheets which suggested their role in all this?

Example: You are Lord Such n Such and you are to put on a show of loyalty to the Williamite King but then at the appropriate moment turn coat and declare for James.

Partly driven by their brief(s) but no one was instructed at any point to turn against anyone else. Partly driven by table top behaviour (suspicion of others drives modified decision making and actions from players), partly fun, partly agitation. Many were texting each other during the battles with offers, messages, promises of riches etc. This was completely beyond umpire control or ken.
Having been in character now for months and also having received several dispatches and independently communicated with each other the whole thing has a life of its own!
It continues to be a real hoot.. Part 4 puts the lid on it and then… there's 1693 which got off to a Machiavellian start

Thanks for the explanation, jocknroll.

Can't wait to read the future entries.

Glad you are enjoying it mghFond and here is the final part of last year's tale which pretty much sets the tone for what has happened since then… some confinements, some postings, some jail time, some retirals, some promotions… plenty of skullduggery
