I'm just getting into the 3D printing game and loving it. Sort of a steep learning curve, but all the tutorials online make it much easier than I'd expected. I was wondering, how much more expensive is it to print in 3 or 4 colors than in a single one? Lets say that shapeways will print a piece in a single color for $1 USD plus start up costs. How much would a multi color print of the same thing cost? I cant find any estimates anywhere. Thanks!

Edit: I just saw that Shapeways does do color, but I don't think my pieces will work because of minimum size issues. Darn…. back to painting I gues… until the technology improves a bit more!

I would like to get transparent creatures with coloured innards printed. Hokun, for Tekumel, a race of crystaline creatures.

A bit beyond my own technical skills at the moment, but definitely do-able.
I'm just having fun with basic geometric shapes for now. Boy oh boy, there are a lot of things you can make in the wee scales with rectangles, squares, triangles, etc….
