Now that theses rules have been out for a few months, what are people's views on them?

The army lists look quite in depth!

I like them, bit of fresh air in quite a stale scene. There were 14 players in the Roll Call competition last weekend, and they seemed to be having fun too.

I'm curious about MeG too. Haven't purchased a copy of the rules, but thinking about it. I'm a big fan of Field of Glory, and MeG looks similar. The one thing that makes me hesitate is the use of cards and unfamiliar dice.

Does the use of cards distract from the feel of playing ancients? When I play FoG, I like to concentrate on the units on the table and "watch" the battle unfold. Do you still feel like you're commanding ancient troops or are playing a card game?

For example, I'm not much of a fan of Commands and Colors Ancients because I feel I'm playing a card game, not a board(miniatures) game.

Well, the cards and the dice are main difference that lifts this from the 'the rest', but I wouldn't say it detracts from feeling like 'commanding ancient troops'.

The cards are just representative of the commander potential to issue charge orders, move , bolster troops etc. There is definitely a 'hand management' aspect of the game, which is the bit I like. The alternate activation also gives it a dynamic feel. Both players play in the same turn – one it just the 'active/first' player

It does combine elements of 'boardgame' style play. But you can't play it with just cards. In fact there is some talk about replacing the cards with 'chits' by general to cut back on the table clutter , which is one of MeGs foibles.

I bought it today to see what it's like. Sounds interesting, I like the army lists

The first of the Chinese lists have just been completed, and next in the queue are Crusades and Early Biblical

We have played a few small games to get to know the rules and find them very good,

Tally Ho!

I may have missed something, but why is the title in the accusative case?
