I'm not sure if the movement trays are genius or just odd… I suppose they could be both.

thumbs up Looks great!!

Beautiful figures, lovely terrain and such a shame to use movement trays -- shiny clear plastic movement trays -- that detracts from this loveliness. I don't like the aesthetic of single based figures in mass skirmish games generally, but movement trays make this even worse and these are a real distraction.

All my opinion, of course, and in balance the look of this game is still very good.

On the contrary! Those trays are genius--I didn't even notice them until I read the objections.

So much better to let the terrain speak for itself, rather than have the figures mounted on the same sand/small rock/bit of scrub FOREVER--including on roads, grassed gaming surfaces, water crossings, etc.

I'd like to know more about how these were fashioned, and the figures affixed to them. Imaginative innovations don't have to be universally liked, but such expressed reservations seem rather unfair.

Hear, hear, Brother Webb!

Not unfair, just my opinion of a very nice looking game otherwise. By the way, the individual stands still have the same sand, rock and scrub as larger stands.

Nice game. I particularly like the way that you varied the clothing of the camel warriors and the blankets on their camels.

Happy you enjoyed it my friends!. (smile)

Great looking table and figs. Sounds like another fun day with Gerry and TSATF in the Sudan. I love the Castaway Arts figs!
Cheers,

Saucegesca!

Yes, you're right--I was so taken with the movement trays, I lost site of the individual bases.

But the obvious solution--and one it should not surprise anyone to think I'm drifting towards--is using clear acrylic bases for single figures, then pairing them where beneficial with similar movement trays.

And think of the advantage of never having to take the time and materiel to make each figure base a display item….
