Read a story from a weapons blog that the US Army is looking to reintroduce a rifle with better stand off range, maybe going back temporary to 7.62

They should go with the 6.8mm SPC or .300 AAC. They could use the same AR lowers with only minor modification, and the ballistics are far superior.
