Very Clean looking pieces. Does Anyone know why the colors red and black were used for artillery? It seems to go back to landsknechts. I imagine red oxide paint was used as it was protective and non fugative(and cheap) just like on galleys- and Barns today. The black just to stop rust? I'm only guessing here, and would love some real data. Cheers Ths skullandcrown.blogspot.com |
